Machine vision refers to the ability of computers to recognize visually. With machine-assisted vision, analog image information is captured and converted into digital signals. Video cameras and signal processing technologies are used for this purpose.
The term machine vision, which goes beyond mere computer-aided vision but is sometimes used synonymously, describes all forms of technology with which images are digitized with computer assistance and the information contained therein is processed to trigger certain actions.
