In parallel to the new Audi e-tron GT, the brand with the four rings has also presented the most extreme vanity of the new electric model. This is the Audi RS e-tron GT. A real sports car with very high flights, which hides almost 650 hp of power, complementing exceptional aesthetics and equipment. On sale in Germany from this spring.

The world presentation event of the brand with the four rings has seen the presentation of the two variants of the new Audi e-tron GT, the conventional variant - if it can be called that - and the wildest variant, the Audi RS e-tron GT. The latter was advanced by Audi a few months ago, confirming that the sports saloon has been the exception that marks the rule.

Because, unlike the other two electric cars, it has skipped the intermediate sports version "S" and has gone directly to the Audi Sport. Aesthetically there are no big changes between the Audi RS e-tron GT and the e-tron GT quattro, which maintains the entire lateral shape, the roof drop, the engine hood so straight or the rear end, with an electrically retractable spoiler. In addition, it comes as standard with the CFRP carbon fibre roof, as well as the mirror caps.

The Audi RS e-tron GT is also distinguished by the 21-inch-diameter alloy wheels mounted on special high-performance tires and by the laser headlights that are standard on this model and that have a blue reflection on both sides. In addition, the dynamic turn signals also feature different animations.

The interior design does not vary, but the decoration does. The steering wheel is lined with Alcantara, and the dashboard and centre console in microfiber made from sustainable materials, with red and grey stitching. The RS e-tron GT has sports front seats lined in leather with the RS logo, with heating, air conditioning and electrical adjustments in 14 positions, up to 18, with the option of pluses that also add the adjustable side reinforcements. The details of the sports house also reach the stainless steel pedals and footrests or the seams of the seat belts.

Technically, the Audi RS e-tron GT sits on the same J1 platform with no variations in terms of the quattro all-wheel-drive system and the chassis. Only the powerful brake system has steel discs as standard, 420 millimetres in diameter and with 10-piston callipers at the front. As an option, brakes with carbo-ceramic discs are offered. And, as in the base model, the electric motors can decelerate up to 0.3g and recover up to 265kW, 360 hp. A recovery system that stays active until it comes to a complete stop.

In the mechanical plane, the Audi RS e-tron GT has the same scheme of three electric motors, with two on the front axle that adds a maximum power of 175 kW -238 hp- and one on the rear that generates the not inconsiderable 335 kW, which is equivalent to 456 hp, bringing the combined total power to 440 kW, a total of 598 hp. A figure that is not all that the system can yield since with the "over-boost" function, it can reach up to 646 hp.

The Audi RS e-tron GT quattro has the adaptive suspension as standard with the regulation of the height of the body according to the chosen driving mode - comfort, efficiency, dynamic and individual - with 22 millimetres downwards and 20 millimetres down. However, in the second, the system is lowered to the most inferior level and the speed is limited to 140 km / h. An add-on is the rear axle differential lock with fixed lock values from zero to 100%.

Both versions of the Audi e-tron GT have an AVAS pedestrian warning. And also with a very special option, the "e-tron sport sound", which takes into account the electric motors or the speed of the rotors to create a digital sound that is transferred to the cabin through two speakers.

The Audi RS e-tron GT is also offered with the same lithium-ion battery as the e-tron GT quattro, with a gross capacity of 93 kWh and a net capacity of 86 kWh, with which it offers a maximum range of 472 kilometres. It is recharged through the 11 kW onboard charger and with a full charging power of 800 Volts. At a fast-charging point, the system only needs 5 minutes to restore 100 kilometres and 23 minutes to recover 80% of the total capacity.

The debut on the market is scheduled for spring this year. The new Audi e-tron GT quattro is priced at 99,800 euros, and the Audi RS e-tron GT version starts at 138,000 euros. With such a price tag, the Audi e-tron GT is positioned in the Porsche Taycan segment.

The Audi RS e-tron GT offers a great list of support systems. Audi Pre Sense Front and Pre Sense Basic are standard, and Night Vission Assist, Surround View Cameras, Adaptive Cruise Control and Park Assist Plus are optional.
